JPL Project - 9/19

My group initially had an idea where we used compressed air to push the ping pong balls through PVC pipes into the mason jar. Unfortunately, the air tank we had was not AMCE certified and we could no use it.

We had to figure out a different way to complete the challenge. So we chose a catapult/trebuchet mechanism. Nick, who is an excellent artist, helped draw the initial sketches (in 3D!!!).

As of 9/19/2019, we have started building the prototype of our machine. We have completed the base! For the future, we need to finish the machine with the proper calculations, and if we have more time we could potentially attach an Arduino and servo to rewind the catapult and minimize the time of each run.

Here are some sketches of our final design. To the left is our sketch, which we drew based on Dr. Mingori's sketch (the one to the right) 😳.

We've done tests with Trebuchet Simulators and prototype builds to ensure our project works

In the past two weeks, our group has brainstormed our final design, sketched our final design, and began constructing our final design.

As Co-Team Captain I went and got materials for our final design, I helped with the sketches of the final design, and I helped cut wood to use for our final design. Wow!
